Snow conditions on the NSW ski fields

SYDNEY, Aug 11 AAP - New South Wales snow report:

FORECAST: Morning frost and isolated fog patches, then a fine mostly sunny day. Moderate
north-west to northerly wind, freshening late in the day.

OUTLOOK: Tomorrow, rain developing, turning to snow later, windy; Friday, snow, windy;
Saturday, snow showers.

CONDITIONS: Snowmaking at Smiggins and Blue Cow has topped up cover in these areas.

Cover will be firm this morning following an overnight freeze with groomed runs offering
best conditions first up. Later, head off piste.

PERISHER: 26 lifts, Mt Perisher and Olympic are great for the more advanced.

SMIGGINS: 11 lifts, suitable for all levels.

BLUE COW: Eight lifts, including Terminal, Summit and Ridge quad chairs.

GUTHEGA: Four lifts, try off piste in the afternoon.

THREDBO: All lifts.

CHARLOTTE PASS: All lifts.

SELWYN: Seven lifts.

CROSS-COUNTRY CONDITIONS: Nordic shelter access packed yesterday, access via fire station.

Learners Loop packed yesterday with excellent cover; excellent cover on 2.5km, 5km and
7.5km loops; sections of 10km loop packed but still thin and patchy in places.

Smiggins 4km loop packed with thin and patchy cover; Wheatley and Porcupine links set with
skidoo but thin and patchy in areas.

ROADS: Mostly open except for icy stretches on Guthega Road from Link Road to Guthega
Village and on Alpine Way from Dead Horse Gap to Pilot Lookout.
