NSW: Summons not served on US film star
SYDNEY, Feb 15 AAP - A summons claiming Jean-Claude Van Damme assaulted a Sydney freelance
photographer has not been served on the US movie star, a Sydney court was told today.
In the Downing Centre Local Court, the magistrate noted the "summons had not been served"
and the matter was left in abeyance.
Van Damme, 38, is charged with common assault after an incident involving freelance Sydney
newspaper photographer Virginia Starr.
In the unserved summons, police allege that Van Damme assaulted and ill-treated Ms Starr
outside The Cave nightclub in the Star City complex.
It will now be left to the discretion of police as to whether a fresh summons will be
served on Van Damme.
